Logon to RH Linux from Windows 2000

I have a small network at home that includes two windows 2000 boxes and
a redhat linux box. At one time I had things set so that when I logged
on to the windows boxes it automatically connected to the linux box for
a backup directory. I had to redo the two windowss boxes and now I have
to enter a password for the linux box each time I logon.

Linux requires a minimum of 6 characters for the passwords. The
passwords on the windows boxes are 5 characters.

I need to know how to either change the linux box so it accepts 5
character passwords, or someway to map the windows user and password to
a user and password on the linux box. Anybody know how to do this?
