EDIT-
This turned out to a hosts issue. Not Postfix.

I added:
xx.xx.xx.xx mail.example.com to my hosts file and all is happy Smile
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Postfix 2.3.3
CentOS 5.1

I have a virtual host on my VPS that has it's own dedicated IP and I am in the process of installing PHPList and while testing I am noticing something strange in my Received from header.

example.com is the virtual host
xx.xx.xx.xx is example.com's IP

vps.example.net is my vps
yy.yy.yy.yy is the vps IP

Received: from www.example.com (unknown [xx.xx.xx.xx]) by vps.example.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3CFFC5A086A8 for <somebody@gmail.com>; Thu, 3 Jul 2008 02:55:53 -0700 (PDT)

Notice the unknown?

Is this a postfix issue?
It doesn't show that way when I send email from mail accounts of that virtual host. Only when sending with PHPList using PHPMailer to allow smtp.

When I send regular mail either from a client or from webmail from accounts for that domain it looks like this:

From webmail:
Received: from vps.example.net (vps.example.net [yy.yy.yy.yy]) by mx.google.com with ESMTP id g31si13893454rvb.2.2008.07.03.03.03.58; Thu, 03 Jul 2008 03:03:58 -0700 (PDT)

From mail client:
Received: from vps.example.net (vps.example.net [yy.yy.yy.yy]) by mx.google.com with ESMTP id g22si12871147rvb.7.2008.07.03.02.59.08; Thu, 03 Jul 2008 02:59:09 -0700 (PDT)
Received: from [192.168.1.2] (My Info Removed [my.ip.my.ip]) by vps.example.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 41EC65A086A8 for <somebody@gmail.com>; Thu, 3 Jul 2008 02:59:01 -0700 (PDT)

So when PHPList is sending using smtp it is of course using the vps mail server as I only have one instance of postfix but it seems postfix does not know the proper info to write for the virtual host on xx.xx.xx.xx so it writes unknown rather than www.example.com.

If this is a postfix issue how can I fix it?

If it is not a postfix issue can anybody point me in the right direction?
