Quote from http://www.hopenumbersix.net/travel.html:

HOPE Number Six will be held at Hotel Pennsylvania on 33rd Street
and 7th Avenue right smack in the middle of New York City, across
the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden.

The Hotel Pennsylvania on the Island of the Manahattoes has, for
decades, been an objective of both Hacker and Flathead forces.
Today Hacker Command issued this statement:

"Strike Force Con-Con is in possession of HP.
At 1600 Friday 21 July 2006, in Assembly Area A of HP,
RMS will address the fighters now inside HP,
and all who make it through the Flathead blockade."

If today you are outside HP, you may enter and celebrate with the
revolutionary forces, starting Thursday 20 July 2006, by at least
three methods:

1. Fight your way through the seige.

2. Jaunt into the HP.

2. Pay $50 in gold, or $75 US, to HOPE 6 Fund for Hackers:

For more information, see these two statements by HOPE 6:

Is this some sort of faked troll or for real?

It's real enough. HOPE is basically the American counterpart of the big
hacker conferences that have been held in the Netherlands every four
years since 1989.

Usually, though, NYC LOCAL announcements are killfile food here as I'm
not in the neighbourhood at all, and they're only vaguely on topic here.
Come to think of it, they'd be prime Distribution: header material.

In the past I just ignored them but they do seem to be posting far mre
frequently recently. It's just as well *every* local user group isn't so
arrogant as to think the whole world needs to know about every little
meeting :-)

At least they are considerate enough to make it easy to killfile.
