FC cards 1977 vs 197E
|
|
|
I have a P5 52A server that was delivered with two FC cards. They have
stickers on the back that say 197E, and lscfg reports a Feature Code of
197E. I'm trying to use these to talk to my EMC Clariion SAN, and it's
not seeing them. My SAN admin tells me the 197E isn't on his support
matrix, but that the FC 1977 is supported. The guy who sold me the box
says that what I have is 1977 cards, despite what the labels and lscfg
tell me.
Are the 197E and 1977 the same card? If so, any idea why my SAN isn't
seeing them? |

The IBM 1977 is an Emulex adapter.
Run the following on adapters fcs0 and fcs1:
lscfg -vpl fcs1 |grep Model
Model: LP10000
Emulex LP10000 is the adapter
I know of no 197E card from IBM
Run the EMC procedure generator to connect your servers to the SAN, and
follow instructions carefully. Make sure to read footnotes from the EMC
compability matrix as well for OS fixes you need. We have quite a few
p5 boxes connected to Clariion with no problems. |

as far as I know, the Feature Code (197E) has nothing to do with the
adapter type (1977). at least that is true on all the other adapter
types that I've seen... its somewhat odd that they are even similar on
this adapter type. |
