Allowing for "ALL_DEVICES_KERNELS" after bos install
|
|
|
I've installed a PL220 with AIX 5.3 ML04. At install time the default
of "yes" for the "allow this system to be restored to other servers"
was changed to "no".
Is there a rapid way of updating the build to contain the appropriate
items to allow the system to be mksysb'd and restored on another
platform?
In its current state the following message is displayed when attempting
to restore.
"Failed to boot
Ok
0>
"
?
Thanks

Install AIX from CD on the new machine with: allow this system to be
restored to other servers = yes
and get a list of installed filesets.
Compare the list with your current system and install any missing
filesets

Thanks Hajo
I'll look at that.
I thinkI may have sorted it also by restoring the system by booting
from CD, then re-mksysb'ing after modifying the bosinst.data to make
sure A_DEVS_KERNELS is set to yes.
This backup then restored okay on alternative server.
