all,

i have a number of p4 and p5 systems running AIX 5.2/5.3 using most of
the current buzzwords: lpars, virtualisation, blah...

I am looking to put together a map of what we "should" be doing over
the next 3-5 years. Of course there will be newer, faster servers and
we will probably get some.but my question is

what should I be planning for in the IBM space over this 3-5 year time
period? More of the same or is there some killer feature I should be
considering.

wide open question of course!

thanks for any insights

In the immediate future you should get even more virtualization -
containers which should allow you to migrate your application running
in a container from one machine to another on the fly without any
downtime. Apart from that I'm sure IBM has more plans to make your job
simpler, more manageable, and more efficient.

Thanks and regards,

Yes I also forgot. You should also get more security features, a
trusted source stack, Multilevel security etc. etc.
