A modern version of rdist vis rsync
|
|
|
Hi,
Having used rdist quite happily for years, I have recently decided
to improve the security side of things. Telnet, ftp and the rcmds
have all been disabled in favour of ssh. I was assuming I would
follow the crowd and move to rsync for synchronizing files around
the network.
However having gotten to grips with rsync I am quite disappointed
with it. It does not come close to the functionality with of
rdist. I would have to write a fir sized wrapper script to wrap around
rsync. Looking around the net I spotted there are newer versions
of rdist which support ssh and even compression. The compression
and delta file transfer may not be as good as rsync's but I would
be quite happy with a secure version or rsync.
Anybody using these newer versions of rdist on solaris 2.8+.
Any recommendations? |
