Hello,

I created a 4TB raid volume using 10 x SATA 500GB Hard Drives and a
3ware 12-port raid controller.
I have installed Suse 10 X86-64 on the volume.
The operating system however does not see more than 2TB in one volume.
I had turned 3ware's auto-carving feature to "off".

What might I be doing wrong?

You will need a 2.6 kernel compiled with CONFIG_LBD, for more info about
the 2 TB block device limit see http://www.suse.de/~aj/linux_lfs.html
At the end of the web page there is some text called "Note Kernel
Limitations:".

What tools are you trying to use to partition/look at the device? fdisk
does not support >2TiB devices -- you must use parted. Also, you cannot
use the standard disk label (msdos). You must use a GPT disk label. Note
that this means you cannot boot from the device, as neither grub nor lilo
support gpt disk labels.
