I have a freeBSD system without the fortune program installed. I dont
have the cd or anything so is it possible to get the source of this
fortune program in a port somewhere or a package. how would i get it
with the sysinstall? I'm not sure how sysinstall works only that in a
previous post someone was successful in getting it from there.

thanks

Then why are you posting to an OpenBSD newsgroup?

Perhaps because of this:

X-HTTP-UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US;
rv:1.8.0.3)

We don't do that here, I'm afraid. Also, I'd be highly surprised if the
answer to your question was not in the documentation, but since I am not
familiar with FreeBSD, I can't help you there.

At least on NetBSD and OpenBSD it is a part of the BSD games collection.
It is usually installed at /usr/games. See if you can download the games
tarball from ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/.

Please, be warned that you will get more accurate answers asking on a
FreeBSD newsgroup instead; OpenBSD is a different operating system.

Cheers,
Igor.

If you have the source taballs handy or have /usr/src installed -- e.g.
you selected "development" system when installing fbsd -- you can just
cd tro /usr/src/games/fortune and do make & make install. It's pretty
much a stand-alone item.
