Subject almost says it all. mb2md refuses to work on Thunderbird
files, since they apparently differ (subtly, in my mind) from mbox
format. Suggestions?

Perhaps you can use formail (comes with procmail) to convert them into
valid mboxes first—sometimes formail can be made to handle broken mbox
formats (not always, though).

This, however, is probably not the best forum for such a question (as
it has nothing to do with qmail).

Check out : http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/faq
Section: How do I export e-mail messages to another mail program or computer?

Then use something like this: http://www.averillpark.net/Maildir/
to convert to maildir.
