Serial Input via Remote Terminal (termtek)
|
|
|
Hi,
I have multiple termtek devices that connect to a solaris box.
Currently we are able to cat files to the local com ports to print to
bar code printers. We now, however, want to recieve information from a
serial device that occasionally just sends text via the communications
port. The device will need to hang of the terminal, not the actully sun
box itself. Is there anyway to open up the port, capture the
information then close the port, preferably via a script etc ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Glenn |

Have you looked at "tip" (built in Solaris) or kermit (open source)?
They both would provide bi-directional interface to the serial ports.
dd if=/dev/TTYDEVICE ibs=1
doesnt't work in most cases, but still is worth a try
