ASE 12.5.3 on HPUX Itanium

Hi,

I've been testing two HPUX Itanium servers, running ASE 12.5.3 ESD 6 on
top and I've been facing severe performance problems.

Server used in tests
HP integrity rx4640 Itanium 2 4x1.6GHz
HP rp3440 1x 1GHz (pa-risc cpu)

The ASE used on both platforms have the same settings with exception
that is 12.5.3 on itanium and 12.5.1 on pa-risc

If ASE has the settings on for MDA tables. Then the performance impact
(slowdown) is from 31% to 38% where the performance impact on pa-risc
is no more than 9%.

Now the interesting bit...

If the MDA settings are off then the itanium (with just one engine)
would out-perform the pa-risc... but if the MDA settings are on then
will be slower than pa-risc (from 31->38% slowdown)

Is there someone that has ASE 12.5.3 on HPUX Itanium?

Is there someone that knows why this settings have so huge impact on
HPUX itanium?
