Help for newbie to SGI
|
|
|
Hello All,
I recently got a SGI 320 Visual Workstation. I know nothing about these
apart from they will only take windows 2000 or NT.
I was told to look for the vrm and find out the part numbers etc to see if
it would take the 1 gig cpus it's currently running dial 450mhz Katmai cpus.
Can anyne tell me if this is the vrm I need for the bigger cpus please?
Below are the numbers taken from it
FRU 01K7371
VXI p/n 073-20742-30 Rev E
J17TA7732UP
D/C 99275W
01 K7370 907
I know nothing about the SGI so any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Dave |

Hello Neil,
Excellent website!!. The motherboard is the 007B version. It appears my vrm
is suitable to run the 1000 mhz cpus and I've flashed the prom to version
1.1005.
Now all I have to do is decide whether to keep the machine and upgrade it or
sell it.
Thanks for the link
Regards

I have one of the Celestica/VXI 20772-01 VRMs for taking your 320 up to
dual 1GHz, if you're interested? It's brand new, direct from VRM Sales.
It cost me $60 dollars last week and is surplus to my requirement (one
of the PIII I'm using for an upgrade appears not to work in a dual
config). You can have it for £25 inc. postage.
Regards,
Carl.
