Hello,

I try to install new freeware from freeware.sgi.com on a 6.5.11
CDROM freeware and I have a pb with fw_common:

It add * fw_common.sw.security_fixes* that make me many pb !

It want to remove lots of package like :
* fw_unzip.sw.unzip
* fw_ghostscript.sw.ghostscript
* fw_libz.sw64.lib
* fw_libz.sw.lib
* fw_PAM.sw.lib

My questions are : Is it mandatory to add this packages ? Why does
it remove those new packages ?

These warnings are for security reasons. Please see
http://freeware.sgi.com/fw.html#security

You can either get/build newer versions of these packages, choose to
ignore the warnings, or not install them at all...up to you.

Is there well-known non-official sites that build freeware packages
(I dont know how to do that) more recently ? (are they compatible
with freeware.sgi.com ?)

Visit www.nekochan.net, and forums.nekochan.net.
This is a very active community which propose tons of packages, called
"nekoware". You can configure your box with only nekoware, as you can
find quite everything that you need.
