Get yourself a copy of a PPPoE howto for Linux and follow it as close as
possible. There is a translator needed at some point that encapsulates
PPP packets into PPPoE and sends it over your Ethernet card to your DSL
modem. I'm not aware if there is a PPPoE software that runs on IRIX.

When you got it, a short success story here would be nice.

Am I missing something? I have a dsl router, works great, I don't
think I did anything special. routed is on, the router is on the
subnet, it's the gateway in static-route.options.

I had an isdn router before, with various flavors of 6.5, to change
to dsl I simply programmed the new router with the old gateway
address and swapped. Oh, and the DNS servers changed (in
resolv.conf).

had to start nsd, gated and routed daemons and to change
nameserver to the router address.

now everything works fine.

Oh, after a DSL router. Sorry. Smile

Actually I have my O2 behind a router and all I did was actually making
the IP address fix, setting the router as default router by adding

$ROUTE $QUIET add net default ...

(where ... is my router address). And then I just set the providers DNS
servers in /etc/resolv.conf. 'routed', 'gated' should be hardly needed.
