I'm running the Solaris 10 install program now. After much futzing
everything seems to be going ok. It called for a reboot in mid-install,
and I couldn't see how to boot Solaris, since I hadn't changed the boot
manager. Turns out there's a way to order the computer to boot from the
Solaris partition, and I figured it out through trial and error.

But that leaves me wondering how I'll set up the boot manager. Will I have
to install a new one for Solaris, or can I add Solaris to the Linux GRUB
boot manager I've already got? It works fine for Windows and Linux and I'd
just as soon keep it and add Solaris. Can one do so? And how?

Thanks!

yes, you can keep it. Do the same thing, what you did for windows.
Works for me...

Well I installed Solaris 10 x86_64 half an hour ago on a ACER Ferrari
3400 laptop. The other OS'es I had installed was Windows XP and 32
bit Suse Linux ( Java Desktop ). I Had to do three things to make it
work:

1. Install a 64-bit version of GRUB.
The 32-bit GRUB hangs when trying to boot 64bit Solaris.

2. Make sure the the PC HARDWARE diskpartition was created by LINUX
not Solaris, ( as has been discussed on alt.solaris.x86 )

3. set up Grub /boot/grub/menu.lst solaris menuitem to do :

rootnoverify (hd0,1)
makeactive
chainloader --force +1
