Hi,

I could just recompile zlib1.2.2 in userland, but I think it willl just
install everthing in /usr/local instead of overwriting the the old
version in /usr.

Can anyone please recommend a way to upgrade zlib to 1.2.2 in freebsd 5.3?

Thanks
Sam

According to http://www.gzip.org/zlib/ the current release of
zlib is 1.2.1, which is almost the version in FreeBSD.
According to http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/lib/libz/
the files infback.c and inflate.c were patched for a DoS
vulnerability.

If you have to ask, it's probably too difficult.

Unfortunately this site isn't up-to-date :-/ The latest version is
1.2.2 as you can see if you look here: http://www.zlib.net/

I haven't update the source of FreeBSD stable for 2 months. I m

Sam.

If you're concerned about the zlib vulnerability - that has been patched
in the version shipped with 5.3.
