FreeBSD wireless sniffer
|
|
|
Hi everybody,
I have a Cisc 340 Aironet wireless card that I want to use with a
wireless sniffer. Does anyone know of a sniffer that will work with
this card? Thanks.

i normaly use dstumbler from the bsd-airtools package, but that only
works with Prism chips, however i noticed that Kismet is in the newer
ports tree. may give that a shot.

If Windows is the solution, can we please have the problem back!?

It's very rocky (at least in a 6-CURRENT environment); the radiotap stuff
doesn't get along well with kismet. I got lots of packets, but weplab
did not like them.

you got farther with it than i did
we need more wireless tools for FreeBSD. not everyone is fortunate
enough to have a "compatable" card (ie: Prism).
heck.. we need wireless that works right for that matter.

I've got a Linksys WPC11 card that I think use the Prism chipset, |
however I've never got Kismet to work. I'm going to be maintaining some
access points at work and a wireless sniffer would be very helpful.

check the revision number. they have a bad habbit of changing chipsets
w/o changing model numbers. i think the only cards that you are sure
what you're getting is Atheros based cards. Atheros holds a copyright
on "SuperG" and all of the cards based on their chip have a little
emblem on the box.

SCO believes they own Journaling File System technology.
That's as rediculous as Al Gore thinking he created the internet!

Even if the card is compatible, the wi driver is buggy. |
We need more working drivers in the first place |
