Suse graphic card problem
|
|
|
Hi
I have Suse 9.0 on my PC. I recently installed new VGA drivers for my Radeon
9600. But when GUI starts picture on my monitor is awful. Srceen is
flickering. I can't do anything.
So how can I go to linux prompt before booting GUI to start YaST to
configure graphic card because I can't do that from GUI because of the
problem above.
In windows before booting I press F8 and then theres option to go to command
prompt. Is there something similiar in Suse? I don't have Suse instalation
disks my friend have it and he is away. Or can Suse start in some kind of
"safe mode" like windows? How to solve my problem and return to old VGA
drivers?
Tnx in advance |

When the login manager starts up, press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a console
screen (Ctrl-Alt F7 to switch back). On the console log in as user root.
Then switch to runlevel 3 by typing "init 3" (and press return). After you
entered runlevel 3, you can run "sax" to reconfigure your screen, try
choosing a lower resolution.
