Installing Yoper
|
|
|
Thought I would give Yoper a go, as it seems to be light weight and I only
have an old machine to run it on. I'm fairly new to Linux but have played
around with it a bit and am growing to like it.
Installing Yoper give me the following problems.
1. If I do the installation in 'normal' mode it outputs to the monitor at
87khz, which is outside the range of my TFT monitor (60khz). The only way
round this is to install in 'novesa' mode, what ever that is. Is this a
problem?
2. Having done the install it reboots and starts with a default run level of
5. Sax2 then starts up and complains of an error, something to do with not
detecting the graphics chip correctly. It suggests a few fixes and then
displays a message telling me to correct the problem and then reboot. I seem
to have no way of getting to a shell at this point. Both FC2 and ubunto
detected the graphics without any real problem. Its a PCchips 810mlr board
with onboard graphics, but I don't know what chip.
Any help very welcome, thanks in advance.
