I am trying to create graphs using JfreeChart and then display them on
a JSP.

I have tried both JSPs and Servlet, however, when I try to run the
code, i get the following error:

X connection to localhost:10 broken(explicit kill or server shutdown)

I get the same error when I try and run the servlet demos for
Jfreechart.
I am using red hat linux, tomcat and jfreechart.
Someone please help

At least some older JVM versions (1.3; perhaps even early 1.4 series)
did require a connection to the X server when you were doing anything
with the graphics APIs -- even though you were not directing the output
to a screen, but wanted to produce an image file.

Running a non-display X server might help, if upgrading to a more recent
(1.4.2_07 or 1.5.0) JVM is not a possibility. Google should be able to
help with search words java Xvfb.
