Hello!
Well the subject says it all... My hard disk LED is always on. Just
under Linux (FC3). It doesn't even flicker. It's just always bright red.
And I don't know what's causing it. It's on even when the computer is
idle. Otherwise it's operating fine. I assure you that there are no
problems with the disk or the motherboard, because they are both brand
new and work very well under WinXP. I thought that there might be some
process in the background that's causing the "trouble" but I wasn't able
to figure it out.
Any hints or clues?

TIA, Karlo.

Here's my processes list (ps -ef):

Run an application like "gkrellm" and you should be able to see if your
HDD light is actually showing traffic on the bus. One of the display boxes
will show IDE activity, and then you might have to trace it back from
there. It could simply be a motherboard quirk...

Also, does it do it if you boot into text only mode (i.e. no X)?

Cheers

Tim

Check you haven't got it plugged into the power led connector by mistake.

Well it appears to be working now... I know what the problem was. I had
both the AHCI and the PIIX SATA drivers compiled into the kernel and
supposedly AHCI "takes precedence" over PIIX driver when they're
compiled together. Now I only use the PIIX driver and it works just
fine. Thanks for your replys anyway...

Karlo.
