Control key remap on Apple PB

I've installed Slackintosh 10.1 on my post-February 2005 12"
powerbook. As I am accustomed to doing with my linux machines, I load
my own keymap. My remap works fine except for my remapping of the
Caps Lock key. "Keycode 58 = Control" doesn't make it a Control key.
It doesn't work as a Caps Lock key anymore, and I am grateful for
that, but I really want a Control key in the proper place, i.e., to
the left of the A key. If it makes any difference, I am working with
a Canadian French keyboard.

Any ideas? Suggestions?
