Hi Don,

I asked about this at the Oracle Rdb Tech Forum in Stuttgart, Germany on
the 21st and 22nd of April. If I remember correctly, the answer was
something like...

"This has been periodically discussed internally by Rdb Engineering, but
there are no present plans to provide a DB Link capability from Oracle
Rdb to Oracle Classic over the SQL*NET and OCI Middleware. If you have a
business need for this capability, you should communicate this need to
Oracle Rdb Management."

As you appear already to know, a DB Link capability from Oracle Classic
to Oracle Rdb over the SQL*NET and OCI Middleware is provided and
supported by Oracle. The SQL*NET which provides the Oracle Classic
emulation so that the Rdb Database appears to be just another Oracle
Classic database is evidently only one way. The Oracle Rdb Emulation to
allow an Oracle Classic DB to appear as a normal Oracle Rdb DB would
potentially be an equally large project.

There are also some alternative middleware products that may provide an
adequate solution...
