It's been a long time since I had to fool with this, but IIRC, you
need to set the following with setenv:

SystemPartition dksc(1,1,Cool
OSLoadPartition dksc(1,1,0)
kernname dksc(1,1,0)/unix

That will set your boot device to controller 1, drive 1, which, from
your hinv output, is the one you want.

Maybe.

Hello,

After I performed a "resetenv" in the prom of my Challenge L it refuses
to startup.
During the boot sequence I get the following message:

Quote:

Starting up the system...

Unable to execute dksc(0,1,Cool/sash: no such device

Unable to load bootfile: no such device

Autoboot failed

Unable to continue; press <enter> to return to the menu:
Checking SCIP IOA 5 on IO4 in slot 4 -- passed.

I have tried to reinstall IRIX 6.5 via network but this also fails.
The machine does not seem to recognise the disks anymore. Does anybody
know how I can get the Challenge to boot ?

The machine was running IRIX 6.5 , hinv :

Quote:
hinv -v
System: IP25
