FC4: 2.6.13 kernel (still) won't boot on Dell Inspiron 5150/P4
|

Now Fedora has released a new 2.6.13 kernel for FC4. But it won't boot
on my Dell Inspiron 5150, P4, neither 2.6.13-1.1526smp nor
2.6.13-1.1532smp. All versions up to and including 2.6.12 works just
fine. After "Uncompressing the kernel ... OK, Booting Linux" all I get
is a newline, then it hangs.

Do you have 'quiet' on the boot command line? If so, can you remove
it, and find out where its hanging?
Also please post your /boot/grub/grug.conf file.
You might want to create a bug report about this also (it's free);
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/index.cgi
You might want to also build your own kernel from the vanilla or Fedora
source code and see if that fixes the problem.

It seems that the SMP code is now tied to ACPI, see this thread;
2.6.13 SMP Changes?
From:

linux.kernel
So you need to compile and use ACPI with the 2.6.13+ kernels.
