Installed the kernel, but my monitor shows no bootsequence, it is "out of
range". Why?
What config is used by the new kernel? Anything else to do?
How do I uninstall the new kernel and make the old default again? |

Get the kernel from etch (testing)
http://packages.debian.org/testing/base/linux-image-2.6.12-1-powerpc
Install it like this (as root)
dpkg -i linux-image-2.6-powerpc_2.6.12-10_powerpc.deb
and this should be your default kernel on your next boot. (Type 'old'
at the yaboot prompt to get the previous kernel). I believe 2.6.12 has
sounds support for the Mini AFAIK (I don't own a mini) but no support
for a mixer. You also need to use ALSA. There is no real issue with
booting a testing/unstable kernel with sarge (I'm doing it).
Try reading/posting to the debian-powerpc list, it's a good
community.
Cheers!

IIRC in latest kernel there should be a basic support for sound (i.e. no
mixer). Try pulling the linux-image-2.6.12 from unstable, and look in the
google archive of linux.debian.ports.powerpc.

Does anyone know an easy way to get sound work?
I need a tutorial or something...
I have already tested to use a patched kernel, without success...
(doesn't matter why, managed to boot etc. but not satisfied with it)
A simple drive or patch and some instructions how to use/ apply it
whould be nice. I don't whant to do changes to the kernel or anything
that blows my configuration.
If you have any suggestions...
Thanks.
