Classic Quake?

I was wondering, is there a port of Classic Quake? I've tried several
different releases but they've all had the same general problems and the
standard Xquake binary release don't particularly run well.
The problem I was having is this, I wanted to setup a simply classic quake
server but I've yet to find a working version. I heard there was a patch for
class quake source, for the alpha, but I've yet to find it. Any tips, ideas,
hints.
So far I've tried quakesrc and ProQuake, but they don't compile due to
OPCODES for the i386. I've tried QuakeForge and their QuakeWorld portion
works but NUQ/NQ-Server is a different story. I just simply wanted to setup
an class quake server running Runes... I didn't know it would be such a
hassle you know... |
