Sure, Netscape 4.7 or so. There should be mozilla and firefox on

Yes, 4.7, along with Mozilla 1.4.3 IRIX. |

You certainly may copy IRIX CD with Nero, but IRIX installation CDs are
efs filsesystems, so AFAIK you can only use IRIX. Linux supports efs
read-only.

Last I checked there was little to no support for graphics on the Indigo2
under Linux (depending on whether you have an older style system or Impact
graphics). Unless you're happy with a serial console and network access,
go with Irix. (And after all, isn't part of the appeal of an SGI its
graphics subsystem?) |

You don't need to burn it at all. unpack all files in some directory,
share it with your machine with NFS, launch Software Manager, open the
location of your NFS server and upgrade.

If you have IRIX 6.5.x then go to http://freeware.sgi.com/ and get the
regular GNU tools plus lots more. Their all bundled into installable files
so its nice and simple. You can also plug the address
http://freeware.sgi.com/Inst/ straight into software manager.

I don't know if Linux is ported but from what you say you want to do
with
it
stick with IRIX. Its perfectly good for what you want and _lots_ more!!
