Re: Monitor troubles after move ...

I have moved several 20" SGI monitors without any problems, indeed a
friend and I once transported about ten 17" SGI monitors in the back of
a van several hundred miles, so I think unless you actually drop one
they don't take any harm from being moved. There are delicate parts in
the screen, so I'm lead to believe, which is why you should always
transport them upright if possible.
If moving it away from any electronic interference doesn't help, you
could also make sure the mains socket is OK - try plugging it into a
different socket, maybe in a different room, to be sure, and try a
different mains lead too. (may sound silly, but I've known a mains
lead to cause problems in the past). Eliminate possible causes one at
a time. |

Maybe it has nothing to do with the breakers and the hung PC but with
moving the monitor.
Any ideas on what could be wrong and if there is a simple way to fix it?
Failing that, does anyone have a source for these monitors, I haven't
seen any around eBay since about 2001.

This is frequently caused by electromagnetic interference--do you have
anything with a transformer close to the monitor or monitor cable?
Try moving the monitor a couple of feet to one side or the other and
see if the problem clears up.
