This is proving to be so challenging.

Is there a resource for this? I have googled and tried to install
version based on ideas I have found, but there are unresolved
dependency issues.

I can't see this anywhere on the FTP DVD. I have searched with YAST,
but no relevant connector info comes up.

Any ideas?

Yast --> search for Evolution Very Happy this is the Novell name for Ximian

Thanks to all. The clue was to set an ftp site for an installation
source and then just search for exchange....

Did you change the source of installation with yast and then try to install
programs? Not everything is on the dvd.
