Thanks for the response but if I enter my username and password I am
left at the prompt with a flashing cursor. What do I need to do in
order to get back to my normal desktop? And why does rebooting not take
me to my desktop anyway?

What changes did you make (if any) to your system before the ill fated
boot? Did you change or add anything?

Mitch

It's all ok now, under someone else's advise I did the
following;

Log in as su and enter init 3 and then entered sax2 -l
made sure that the video settings were ok and saved and
exited. Then when I reboot it seemed to just work.

Thanks for replying guys

Hi everyone,

For some reason when I reboot by Suse 9.2 pro system I am getting the
Linux Login screen instead of getting to my KDE desktop. I've no idea
how this has happened nor do I have any idea how to get it to continue.
does anyone have any idea how this could have happened, and more
importantly what do I logon as to proceed?

Probably an update did that. You logon as user and then fill out the
password.

Personally, I think most sports fans are a little "gay". They'd
rather watch a bunch of sweaty guys jumping all over eachother,
than, say fashion TV - where hot models walk down the runway.
