I assume the first partition has windows on?
Linux prefers more than 1 partition, and you can have as many as you like
with linux, the bare minimum is 2 for linux (1 for the filesystem, 1 for
swap which should be approx 2x the amount of RAM in the system).

You can override the defaults and create partitions during the install of
any size and number you like (upto the maximum size of the disk of course)

Hi,

I am a new user and i want to install Linux Suse 8 (thas the version i
have).

First problem: my computer have only one disk, that i create two partitions.
I want to instal Suse in the 2º partition, but when i start instalation he
give me 4 partitions to do the instalation.

The first is the all disk
The second is (i think) my first partition
The therd is (i think again) my second partition
And the fourth he says that have the same space that the therd, and then i
am completed lost.

Anyone cam help me with that? In what partition that i should do the
instalation, that i dont lose my windows partition and files.
