Hui,

It will work; it always does. You must be doing something wrong.

First of all, you are using webmail, so I wonder if the many emails
you've sent the list are due to impatiently clicking the send button
multiple times, or something like that. If so, please slow down!
Spamming like that gets people really mad, as you've seen.

Now, if you would like help unsubscribing, please feel free to email me
off-list. I'm sure we can figure it out. Most likely you are
forwarding messages to your yahoo account from another address which is
subscribed to the list, or something like that.

RewriteRule ^random/miva(.*)$ /mm5/merchant.mvc$1 [R=301]
RewriteRule ^cgi-bin/miva(.*)$ /mm5/merchant.mvc$1 [R=301]

The first rule properly rewrites when browsing to site/random/miva?
directives=here&more=here, while the second rule refuses to rewrite.
I've had a terrible time finding much reliable information on the
issue, I've found one website that claims mod_rewrite will not work
on a directory that is a scriptalias, because scriptalias is a
'deeper' apache module, and therefor takes precedence before
mod_rewrite will kick in. My personal experience on this leads me to
believe this could be true, but since I was only able to find the
information on one site, with nothing to back it up, I figured i'd
see what you guys had to say about that.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Where is the .htaccess located? In the DocumentRoot or in the cgi-bin
directory?

The easiest fix for this would be to put the RewriteRule's in the
httpd.conf instead of in .htaccess (with appropriate path
adjustments).

Joshua.

Previously the .htaccess file was in the document root, which I
assume is probably a mistake. This morning I came in and tried moving
the .htaccess file into the scriptalias'd cgi-bin, the contents of
that file read:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^cgi-bin/miva(.*)$ /mm5/merchant.mvc$1 [R=301]

After that failed to work, I attempted to move it into the httpd
include file that defines the virtualhost for this server, which
although was not rewriting the way I had hoped, was at least applying
the rewrite rules to the URI. Which leads me to this question, Is
mod_rewrite capable of rewriting the query string portion of the url?
The end result of what i'm hoping to do here is rewrite URI's in the
form:
http://server.com/cgi-bin/miva?Merchant2/merchant.mv
+Screen=PROD&Store_Code=server&Product_Code=ow_creme
into:
http://server.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?
Screen=PROD&Store_Code=server&Product_Code=ow_creme

is that going to be possible? I've got my RewriteLogLevel at 7, and
it seems to only include the URL in the rewrite schemes, which made
me realize i've never actually tried a rewrite on the ${QUERY_STRING}
portion of a URI.

Thanks again,
Brad

Under
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewriterule
see the big block labeled "Note: Query String".

You need to do something like
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^(Merchant2/merchant.mv+)(.*)
RewriteRule ^/cgi-bin/miva$ /mm5/merchant.mvc?%2

But watch out: the order of parameters in the query string may be arbitrary.

No it's not. It's mostly used to fix poor HTML code served by the application server (e.g. absolute URLs), or URL prefixes modified by the proxy server (why would anyone want to do that anyway ?) thereby breaking links (e.g. <A href=...)

Without any offense to the author, mod_proxy_html can be useful in some cases, but in other cases it may cause just as many problems as it will solve. It is for example very rigorous about the HTML and JavaScript syntax of documents. If the original document is poorly coded, mod_proxy_html may generate output which will not be rendered well by browsers (the malformed code would have worked because they usually make "educated" guesses about the author's intentions). It can break some charsets (due to libxml2).

Unless absolutely compelled to, I avoid using it, and I have mostly managed to so far.

Otherwise I believe the answer to your question is in the new mod_proxy_html FAQ: http://apache.webthing.com/mod_proxy_html/faq.html

Doc,

It was my understanding that we have completed the SSL notification process
(and we had) - but shortly after shipping 2.0.58 and preparing for 2.2.2
(which needed a revised notification for the 'richer' ECC cryptography
in OpenSSL 0.9.Cool some potential gaps in the process were discovered. This
led to a very long email thread on dev@httpd (public) which may be close to
being resolved after a productive discussion yesterday (and a BoF meeting
this evening in Dublin, so hopefully other dev@s are now in-the-know).

So the binaries are gone until a few corporate officers agree that on one
straightforward method to handle the export requirements, and I exited stage
left while they come to their consensus. But your question below is a very
universal one that applies to any 'extra -D config sections' so read on...

Savage, Robert CTR USTRANSCOM J6 wrote:

When Apache v2.0.58 was released in early May, both ssl and no_ssl
Windows binaries were posted to
http://apache.edgescape.com/httpd/binaries/win32/.

I encountered immediate SSL problems. All attempts to connect via HTTPS
failed. After three weeks of pulling my hair out, a friend told me to
check the Windows registry. Voila! There the command line string that
invokes Apache2 as a service was missing a required “‑DSSL†parameter.
When I added that back in, v2.0.58 w/ssl runs perfectly.

Yes, there is a very nice feature that's not well documented. If your
server is in the usual location, and you wanted to toggle -DSSL, you can
either invoke bin\apache.exe -k start -DSSL, you can bring up the service
property page and put -DSSL in the run options box before clicking 'start',
or you can type the command

bin\apache.exe -k config -n Apache2 -DSSL

along with other options. -n defaults to Apache2.2 of course.

It also makes equal sense to simply remove the <IfDefine SSL> start
and </IfDefine> end block-tags, and just leave the ssl config always-included.
That is, once ssl is correctly configured.

Bill

Mak,

I think you did not configure correctly, Follow below steps. its very
important what do specify at the time of configuration see below
example. "prefix" is the path where you wish to build the apache
executables. You can also build the modules for dynamic linking replace
static word by dynamic.

../configure --prefix=/data2/apache/ \
--enable-rewrite=static \
--enable-ssl=static \
--enable-proxy=static \
--enable-proxy-http=static
make
make install

All the Best,
Anil D
