hi,

that's not a program, it's just a definition of an environment variable
'LIBGL_DEBUG' with value 'verbose', that will be applied only to this
single command.

just try to execute the line i wrote - it should work without any problems.

regards,

hi,

first - please don't send html formatted e-mails to the list, plain text
is much better. i was almost unable to read your mail, since it was full
of 'nbsp; tags'
second - there's no need to cc me on replies, i read the list

and now - everything looks fine, modules loaded, xorg reports the card -
so it's strange. what does
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxinfo
say?

regards,

hi,

Quote:
have an intel graphics card, and i' d like to have 3d acceleration on
it. I have debian stable and testing, too, so i' d be interested in
both (xorg and xfree too, but certainly xorg is more important).
to have 3d acceleration for intel cards you will need

1) intel agpgart, drm and respective drivers (i am not sure which ones
you will need for this card - maybe i810, i830 or i915) compiled in your
kernel or as modules. if you compile them as modules the system will
choose the right one.
maybe these are already present. what is the output of lsmod?

excerpts from my config (i knew which things are needed, so i compiled
it to the kernel)
CONFIG_AGP=y
CONFIG_AGP_INTEL=y
CONFIG_DRM=y
CONFIG_DRM_I915=y

2) i810 module for xorg version 7.0; for older versions i think it is
automatically installed

3) to get acceleration working you might need the newest dri drivers. if
your card 3d capabilities aren't recognized (you will see it in the xorg
output) download the latest dri from dri.freedesktop.org - you will need
i915 driver, i think - search the archive of debian-user, this was
surely discussed relatively recently

one comment - you need xorg i810 driver and dri i915 driver

4) modify your xorg.conf accordingly - relevant parts of my xorg.conf
are displayed below.
Section "Module"
Load "i2c"
Load "bitmap"
Load "ddc"
Load "dri"
Load "extmod"
Load "freetype"
Load "glx"
Load "int10"
Load "type1"
Load "vbe"
Load "dbe"
EndSection
....
Section "Device"
Identifier "i945GM"
Driver "i810"
EndSection
....
Section "Screen"
Identifier "screen"
Device "i945GM"
Monitor "lcd"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x800" "1024x768"
EndSubSection
EndSection
....
Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection

there can be one more issue with laptop - if you have widescreen panel,
you may have problems with setting the proper resolution. in such a
case, use 915resolution available from debian packages.

hope i didn't forget anything important. regards,

Hi!

I have an intel graphics card, and i' d like to have 3d acceleration on
it. I have debian stable and testing, too, so i' d be interested in
both (xorg and xfree too, but certainly xorg is more important).

lspci say:

0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 82852/855GM Host Bridge (rev 01)

0000:00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corp. 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)
0000:00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corp. 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)
0000:00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01)

0000:00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-M) USB 2.0 EHCI Controller (rev 01)
0000:00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82801 PCI Bridge (rev 81)
0000:00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller (rev 01)
0000:00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82801DBM (ICH4) Ultra ATA Storage Controller (rev 01)
0000:00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) SMBus Controller (rev 01)
0000:00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01)
0000:00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 01)
0000:02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5901 100Base-TX (rev 01)
0000:02:01.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1410 PC card Cardbus Controller (rev 02)

So i' d like to ask what is the "standard" way to get 3d accel on debian etch/ sarge.

The card sure can use 3d accel, cuz just for test i installed a fedora,
and without doing anything, there was 3d acceleration on it.

What driver should i download it for it, and which part of it should i
install. What is neccessary. I have download from intel.com what i' ve
found, but i didn' t have success with it.

My computer is an ibm thinkpad g40 laptop.

Thanks for the answers.
