You don't need to change UIDs, changing conf-home is enough !
What about the alias user?

I believe one alias is enough. If you plan to run different domains
on instances, you should use virtual domains, and system-wide alias
has nothing to do with it.

If you want 2 completely separate servers with
different queues and so forth, you need to compile qmail twice - once with
each set of UIDs specified and also change conf-home (?) to indicate a
different base qmail directory for each instance. I'm doing this with 4
instances on 1 server (!), and while it's a bit of a pain to set up, it's
fairly straightforward.

What is a pain, several instances on one server is trivial task.

Copy the supervise directory for the server and make another one using the
second ip

It's more complicated than that - that keeps them on the same queue and only |
has one send process. If you want 2 completely separate servers with

different base qmail directory for each instance. I'm doing this with 4

as well. Email me off-list if you need more detailed instructions.

Programs are running on CPU, not on IP addresses.
There are no telepatists reading qmail list.
