A twist on the old topic!
I'm using a Sun workstation running Solaris 8 and ksh88. When I hist
Esc \ for filename completion, I don't get it. (I'm in Vi mode at the
prompt). After scratching my head and looking around and checking my
settings, I postponed the research for a later date.
Then I connected to the same machine via Hummingbird from a PC. In a
moment of absent mindedness, I hit the Esc \ sequence and the filename
completion worked!
A few more experiments convinced me that it's probably the keyboard's
fault on the Sun workstation. Esc puts me directly into the command
mode (for Vi @ the prompt) and a backspace takes the cursor back one
character.
Am I right? Why is it working from a PC and not a Sun workstation?
Thanks,
Sashi

you can download bash from sunfreeware
you can keep a copy of bash in your private directory

We do have an installation of bash but all our scripts are written for
ksh and I'm locked into ksh. (I'm a bash fan myself).
Is ksh93 fully backwards compatible with ksh88?
