If you know the problem is with some specific queries, start by doing
(or having your DBA do) a trace of the problematic queries to see what
they are doing when the performance problems arise.
Otherwise, what processes are consuming the CPU? If they are Oracle
processes you should be able to trace them back to specific sessions
and specific queries within the DB and then trace them. If the
cpu-utilizing processes aren't Oracle, what are they?

I have performance problems with star queries on Oracle 10g under aix
5.2 ML07 that occur periodically. The only way to get around it is to
