Now since it logs via syslogd, one would assume you could send these
logs to a remote host.

I would suggest also looking at Enterprise Audit Shell
http://sourceforge.net/projects/eash/ which I am using. It is designed
to log to a remote server, provides commands to replay sessions, and
seems to work very well.

How would you expect to log the GUI I/O ?
