Hi,
I am looking to update my old p3 400mhz to a new amd 64 x2, I am looking
to spend about £400, for a whole new box. Does any have any recommendations
of motherboards that work well, I would ideally like SATA II, giga Ethernet
and audio (though not vital as I have an old pci sb 512 card). And if it has
onboard video at least 128 (non shared memory), though I can always get an
extra graphics card.

Thanks

Mike

'The cheapest amd64 3800 X2 listed at the moment is $289usd cpu only
(you do the conversion) I think your price point is a little tight for all
the
stuff you want. If you can waite until after the 24th of the month, all the
prices will drop. It would be a lot easier to hit your price target.

later.....

I have had a look and the prices are not that bad as don't need a

monitor/keyboard/mouse etc, I was probably going to wait a bit anyway just
trying to get an idea of what boards are linux friendly, it seams to be only
the VIA chipsets are definately going to work which there seam to be very
few boards using now it now seams to be the nforce chipset that i have hurd
many horror stories about

No offense but your posts would be easier to follow if you spelled
correctly and used periods to designate the end of your sentences. This
last post consisted of one long sentence that was 6 lines long and I
lost what you were trying to say after the 3rd line.

just an FYI
