Reactivating a dead hard drive
|
|
|
Hi all,
I was wondering if there is any way to bring back online a drive that failed
and is no longer visible even via scu.
I've had drives like this that were presumed dead and in fact can be brought
back online and pass all tests including a verify media with scu. I've used
one that failed that way but looked fine and once it was checked out, I put
it back to work and it's still going fine after a few years.
Obviously I had removed the supposedly dead drive and did all the test and
rehab on an other machine.
What I'd like to try is to re-activate one without removing it and without
re-booting the machine.
When I send a reset with scu to that drive, it causes an error to be logged
via evm and it never shows up. A disklabel isn't possible as it's like the
drive doesn't exist.
Is there any other scu command or using some other utility, that would allow
this?
