Are those errors for the messages in question? Go through your logs a
little more carefully (perhaps post a larger chunk of them): trace one
of these mysteriously missing messages from injection through to
deferral. Trace the message number, and see if it ever shows up again.
It should look something like this:
starting delivery 12345: msg 11111 to remote user@yahoo.com
status: local 0/10 remote 1/20
delivery 12345: deferral:
Connected_to_xx.xxx.xxx.xx_but_connection_died._(#4.4.2)
status: local 0/10 remote 0/20
. . .
starting delivery 47219: msg 11111 to remote user@yahoo.com
…and so forth (note the same msg number). Also remember, after enough
time in the queue, qmail will bounce the email, and so it’ll get a new
msg number and qmail will attempt to deliver it to the sender rather
than user@yahoo.com.
Kyle, thanks for responding... |
I checked the consistancy of the queues, and it appears that they are in
good order (no errors from qmqtool).
After going through the logs more thoroughly, I found a case where it
gave that error, and then saw that it tried again 5 minutes later and
successfully sent the email, so it looks as though qmail is doing the
correct thing.
I guess I will have to chalk this one up to a Yahoo! server having some
difficulty or something.
I just wanted to check with the list to make sure that qmail was doing
what I think it was supposed to be doing...
Thanks,
Tim. |

On Thursday, June 15 at 12:17 PM, quoth Tim Traver:
| Quote: | I have a user that has a .qmail file that looks something like this:
|/usr/local/edgedesk/common/bin/visualmda -d /usr/local/edgedesk -u
"user@domain.com" -Q
user@yahoo.com
So, the first line delivers the message to our local mda, which works
properly. The second line is then supposed to deliver a copy of the
message to an account at Yahoo!
My problem is that recently, I've seen some errors in the logs that look
like this :
deferral: Connected_to_xx.xxx.xxx.xx_but_connection_died._(#4.4.2)

If, after rechecking your logs, the message really is disappearing
after a deferral, then the first thing I would suspect is a corrupted
queue. Get some of the queue-fixers from qmail.com and see if that
doesn’t help.

Connect error messages
|
|
|
Hi all,
ok, I've tried searching, and need some help to track this one down.
I have a user that has a .qmail file that looks something like this :
|/usr/local/edgedesk/common/bin/visualmda -d /usr/local/edgedesk -u
"user@domain.com" -Q
user@yahoo.com
So, the first line delivers the message to our local mda, which works
properly. The second line is then supposed to deliver a copy of the
message to an account at Yahoo!
My problem is that recently, I've seen some errors in the logs that look
like this :
deferral: Connected_to_xx.xxx.xxx.xx_but_connection_died._(#4.4.2)
Which I would think would normally queue up the message for delivery
later, but the user never receives that email at yahoo, and I look in
the queues, and the mail isn't there either...
I've checked the IP, and it appears that it is an intermittent problem.
I suppose I could put a static route for yahoo to a particular set of MX
servers for them, but I shouldn't have to...
Are there settings that I need to look at on my side to make sure that
it is being queued correctly when that happens ???
Thanks for the help,
Tim. |
