Subject: [users@httpd] apache fylesystem consistency
Hi,
can anyone explain to me why is not a good idea to have a cgi
(or perl) script
that write file on the filesystem using apache web server?
I friend of mine says that is better to use an application
server because
using a web server can cause filesystem inconsistency...but i
don't know
why!

Why don't you ask *him*?
Off the top of my head, he might be worrying about race conditions (eg, two instances of the CGI program try to modify the same file at the same time). Impossible to know whether this is a real problem for you without detailed knowledge of your application... (BTW, that's just a comment - not an invite for you to *send* such details...)
Rgds,
Owen Boyle
