Yes, that seems odd. Generally, ntfsclone will transfer at near the
network capacity. You also specified "special format," which will only
transfer the actual space in use. Assuming that your 15G partition has
5G space in use for files, and assuming you are connected using 100Mb
ethernet, you /* should */ be able to do that job in about 10 minutes. Are
my assumptions correct, or in the ballpark? If the 15G partition is full,
then the job should be done in less than 30 minutes.
Yeah, I think the problem is that the receiver PC has 200MhZ processor

Wink
5G of the partition are used.

One thing that jumps out is /dev/sda1. Are you using a SATA controller?
Perhaps, the version of knoppix you are using recognizes this hardware
well enough to start using it, but not using it optimally. I know, that is
a long shot guess.
Yes, I use a SATA controller. I can also mount the partition, but of

course don't wrtite on it,
because its NTFS. I also tried captive, a new NTFS driver for linux,
but ntfsclone experienced problems writing on the other partition (250G
for data Smile).

Thanks for your help,

transfer an image of the system partition oder the network to another
Debian PC. This is how I started ntfsclone:

Sender: ntfsclone --save-image --output - /dev/sda1 | netcat
192.168.1.35 9000
Receiver: netcat -l -p 9000 | ./ntfsclone --restore-image --overwrite
~/winimg -

The partition has a size of 15 GB. Now this already runs for a few
days. Fortunately there is the progress bar Smile. Now it is at 100% and
ntfsclone seems now to be "Syncing ...". This runs already for over
half a day. Has anyone experienced same problems or knows how long this
can take?

Thanks,

Jonas
