WOW, you have no sense of humor whatsoever do you?

Apparently you are the type that needs to get the last word so consider
this my last post.

My dear Watson, the very reason for this is stated in the very first
paragraph of said RFC, which is also known as FYI0028.

Let me ask you, is there a standard that describes how you should
conduct yourself while talking to people in person or on the phone,
or the way you write letters, even formal ones? Should there be?

That'd be too easy. Especially since most of what I said may not
directly be, but certainly touches upon, a couple of very basic skills
that *you* *will* *need* if you want any hope of effectively using
OpenBSD. Or any *BSD, or even un*x for that matter.

While at it, find out what is, then read, RFC1855.

A little bit of apropos(1) shows that you'll need the vr(4) driver to do
this. With luck it might be a case of adding a pci-id to it. With this
information, write to the maintainer or file a PR. Extracting this info
from the card using OpenBSD I leave as an excercise.

But first check that vrN (where N is a number) shows up in the dmesg(1)
output or in ifconfig -a. That should be your network card.

The card is detected no problem in my XP box.

Via probably pushed a driver and a packet'o'money toward them redmondians
to make it do that. Or you installed a driver yourself, already.

Being from New England, I have this tendency to try and get something I
already own to work instead of going out and buying something new. :-)

There is a chip on the NIC that has VIA VT6105 L printed on it. Is that
the chipset? The card is detected no problem in my XP box.

TIA

Does anyone know of a driver for the above ethernet adapter? It was not
detected during install of openbsd 3.6.

Check its chipset. Maybe all that is needed is an update of the pci
vendor id database of some driver or another. File a PR, with details.

Get a realtek 8139 for $10. its low end but I have yet to find an OS that
doesnt detect it.

Apart from a hearty *YUCK*, I think it likely that card has such a chip
and/or a clone (*YUCK* again) of that chip.
