hello!
| Quote: | http://www.artfiles.org/freebsd.org/tools/bsdboot/
there was only a DOS installation on the notebook, so I copied bsd.rd in C: from
the cdrom and than did a bsdboot.com -o bsd.rd (if you wipe the disk and the
install fails you are fucked
|
thanks for the tip, but it did not work either.
the "bsdboot.com -o bsd.rd" gaves out two newlines, but nothing else :(
regards, enno (who maybe will never have a real os on his notebook)

Usually i use my notebook in the train for listening music and chatting
on irc. Because it wont work on linux i use win2k at the moment. All the
linux geeks hate me for that, but no one gets the sound workin ;)

so two links of interst for you:
http://doorslam.net/tp600/
http://www.baiti.net/tp770x/ps2.html
the first is to make sound work under openbsd, the second to use PS2.EXE from
a bootable cd instead of having to make a dos bootdisk (I needed this to change
my serial port configuration, no way from the evil ibm bios :)
I also used this tool to install openbsd the first time:
http://www.artfiles.org/freebsd.org/tools/bsdboot/
there was only a DOS installation on the notebook, so I copied bsd.rd in C: from
the cdrom and than did a bsdboot.com -o bsd.rd (if you wipe the disk and the

not really. i'm watching movies on a tv as well, because i can still
surf and chat in the net :)
In the past i had 2 22" screens, that was ok. one for movies, one for
other stuff. But the real good movies have to be watched in a cinema
larger than live :)

I don't use any sound on it
I had the sound once kind of working on Knoppix, but the built in speakers
where not loud, and i don't use applications wich produce sound. I have a
few PC's, but only one of them has speakers connected. (and even that one
can be very annoying!)

Hello;
I noticed that my Thinkpad 600E has/had the same problem. I.E no problem
with Slackware Linux, Knoppix or FreeBSD. But OpenBSD ... no boot from
CD-ROM
For the first instalation of OpenBSD (3.5) i moved the Hard Disk to a
desktop computer and installed the OS there and moved the disk back into
the laptop.
Later i droped the laptop and had to replace the disk ...
I got a external floppy drive for US$20 and installed (booted) OpenBSD 3.6
from there.
I noticed also other computers which have/had problems booting that
CD. I.E. a old DELL (100MHz Pentium) |
