Use Nekochan FireFox or Mozilla. Much better. Who uses
Netscape anymore? ;)
Re the install, see my web site for 6.5 installation info. For
the 6.5.22 update (which doesn't include the apps updates
btw), do unmark all, mark upgrades to install, resolve conflicts.
Easier via a GUI though in swmgr. Install the patch from
the installtools subdir first though.
Cheers! :)
Ian.
PS. My Gifts CD has selections files for 6.5.22. Makes doing
a full install much easier, assuming you have the appropriate CDs.

Hi,
You should get the 3 overlays of Irix 6.5.22 on the SGI's supportfolio
website.
You'll get 3 tgz archives. Extract them into 3 differents directories
(I don't remember if you can extract them in the same)
Then run as root sfwmgr, open the 3 directory, then run the upgrade.
Later,
Thomas

I only have the pukka Irix CD's for version 6.5, so I installed that
with a few problems as per previous post. Now to upgrade to newer
version. Last time I just used to download a huge patch file to upgrade
minor versions, but now it all seems to have changed.
I grabbed 6.5.22 from sgi portfolio, but what do I have here? Upgrades
or a set of overlays? Needless to say I'm running into problems!
I'm trying remotely via terminal, with inst and getting about 17
conflicts. Even selecting 'don't install the upgrade' I couldn't seem
to get out this menu! I read about patch 5086, but I cannot install it
properly becuase I think I've half installed 6.5.22!
So, relaising it's best to start again, how should I approach this?. I
should advice I only have the 6.5.22 files on my Mac, having failed
miserably to burn them properly so the Octane can read them. (curtailed
filenames...)
The version of Netscape in 6.5 really struggles with sgi's website!
Cheers
Steve
