SGI provides a script intended to simplify basic sendmail
configuration. It won't help much if you have complex requirements, but
maybe it will be enough for your situation. Take a look at
/usr/etc/configmail . The man page for configmail may also be useful.

I'm trying to configure sendmail service for Irix 7.2 ; host name:ONYX
; hardware Silicon Grapgics Onyx Risc Processor.
Our intention is to deliver e-mail by using cron daemon schedule
service due to send backup reports.
It seems that the service run correctly but it can not deliver any
e-mail and the following error appear after the "mail" instruction.
for example if i type in the csh shell:

la -al | mail rdeastis@vicuron.it

return the following error

my host (onyx) do not seem exit.

I've configured Onyx TCP/IP with DNS and Gateway that allow internet
connection outside from local intranet for this server.
I know that onyx is a stand-alone intrenet server and i'm sure that
provider's DNS do not know him but i'm asking for your help if you know
a simple configuration to deliver e-mail messages.

If i exclude DNS NAMES in the TCP/IP configuration and specify vicuron
IP domain destination in /etc/hosts file i can not solve the problem
then i get error 550 deliver by tiping mailq command.

Thanks in Advance
King Regards
