"nsadmin restart" did the trick.

I have an IRIX system which has been setup and running for a couple of
months. Today, users are reporting the message "UX:login: ERROR: Login
incorrect" when attempting to login. Upon investigation it turns out
that only users whose passwords are provided by NIS are unable to
login.

I first thought that NIS was not running, but I used ypcat passwd to
display the passwd information, and everything seems just fine.

After reading the man page for login, it states that the above message
is produced either when an incorrect password is provided, or if the
user's login has expired, or remained inactive for a period greater
than the system threshold.

In the file /etc/default/login, IDLEWEEKS is not set, so I'm not sure
what value is being used, however chaning it does nothing to change the
login behavior.

Using "passwd -s -a" lists information on local accounts only.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to check?
