Got an extra trimmer? I'm still working with 9-track tapes all the time, and
we don't have one.

I'm tired of creasing the tip of a trimmed tape with a pocketknife blade. :-(

I just bought a 9-track drive. I could use one of those gizmos too.

Most of the VAXes on ebay (for now) are being sold by
companies. A couple of weeks ago there was a 3100 SPX that started
out at 9.95. I had a 3100-85 that I just sold for 300.00 but then
it was loaded 3 Seagate 18gb drives, a dds-3 tape drive and a ton
of software. phill

So, should I put my MVII Worldbox with ka655 CPU on ebay?

Isn't that a MVIII?

No/Yes. The BA123 is a MVII box; the KA650 is a MVIII CPU... whatever.
Want it?

Dunno. Contact me off the list with the electrical spec.'s off the back
of the machine. I was thinking about spinning up a MicroVAX-3100, even
though I don't really do much with VAXes anymore.

How to demung the reply-to should be obvious.

Got burned for the 3rd time last week !!!!

Something that said it was tested, but not "tested OK and worked perfectly"

If you feel you got burned you probably overpaid. If you got kit that
could be brought up to par with minimal to a modicum of effort, that's
probably not unreasonable, given whats available in the field these
days.

Always a case of Caveat Emptor on Ebay anyway

Caveat Emptor even for new kit from HP. New kit at least comes with a
warranty, though. We just one of new GS1280s go out with a single bit
error on a level-2 CPU cache. Something is not kosher with it because it
thinks it wasn't running an o.s. at the time - it was (VMS).

You are always better off buying from reputable dealer, even if you decide
not to buy it from (us) Island.
There are quite a few GOOD dealers out there

The trick is finding one who'll take time out from their mainstream
business to deal in VMS-capable kit.

I do have a 4000-200 in a BA215 if someone's desparate though.

Anybody know what is driving up the cost of VAXen and VAXStations on ebay
lately? You used to be able to get them for $10 - $30 dollars. Now they
are going for at least a couple hundred. Still not bad for a machine that
originally costs several thousand. However, unfortanutely more than I can
afford right now.

I did buy 3 3100's of of e-bay 5 or 6 years ago, and never did get one to
work. If any body has a working 3100 or 4000 that they would be willing to
part with at a reasonable price please let me know.

Thanks.

Maybe folks are realizing that for data security it's cheap insurance.
